Allen Ascher

Allen Ascher has been a teacher and teacher trainer in both China and the United States, as well as an administrator and a publisher. Mr. Ascher specialized in teaching listening and speaking at the Beijing Second Foreign Language Institute; to hotel workers at a major international hotel in China; and to Japanese students from Chubu University studying English at Ohio University. In New York, Mr. Ascher taught students of all language backgrounds and abilities at the City University of New York, and trained teachers in the TESOL Certificate Program at the New School. He was also the academic director of the International English Language Institute at Hunter College. Allen Ascher is co-author of the Top Notch series.

H. Douglas Brown Ph.D., is Professor of English at San Francisco State University, where he was the director of the American Language Institute. Previously, he taught at the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois. He was the president of TESOL International in 1980-81. Professor Brown has lectured across the United States and internationally. Stephen Martin Hanlon received bachelor’s degrees in Music and Spanish from the University of Redlands, California. While attending the university, he began his ESL career, teaching a public speaking course to Korean, Japanese, and Malaysian students. After moving to Taiwan, he continued his EFL/ESL career teaching kindergarten, elementary school, and secondary school students. When you complete any four modules of Teacher Development Interactive with a score of 75% or better on the final test for each module, you receive a First TEFL Certificate from the English Language Teaching Institute at Hunter College, City University of New York.

To obtain your certificate:

1. Complete your coursework and take the final exam. The final exam can be taken only once.

2. Once you have taken the final exam, your results will be tabulated.

3. Upon completion of any four modules with a total score of 75% or higher, Pearson will send you an electronic First TEFL Certificate from the ELT Institute at Hunter College, City University of New York. This process takes four to six weeks.
